To know Joey and Kerri is to love them. The news of both of them being diagnosed with cancer is heartbreaking. We've created this site so that you can get updates, offer help, and use the guest book to write thoughts of encouragement and love. The outpouring of love and support they are receiving is very wanted and appreciated, however there will be times in the future when the Lynchs may not be able to keep up with phone calls and visits. Please use this site as an alternative means to stay connected.

You are probably wondering why I have not updated you today...I actually headed home for the day to get some work done at the office. We thought Joey might be able to come home either today or tomorrow, but that has been postponed until probably Tues. The wall he hit was a little bigger than we thought. He is now back on IV fluids and not drinking or eating. Kind of back where we started from...except for the actual operation! When I got back my first reaction was as to how good he looked!! He is actually DREAMING of food...very unusual for Joey Lynch!! The plan is to get him hydrated enough so they can slowly ween him off the IVs and then reintroduce him to clear liquids then onto solids.
Joey's brother Donny came down to stay with him while I was "up north" and I thank him for that. It has been nice to have the blog for our correspondence so Joey is able to get your messages and get his rest at the same time. This way when we come home we'll be able to see you all with a well rested patient!
Hopefully we'll be home soon, so until then keep those messages of hope and good cheer coming!!

  6. Sorry to hear about the setback. Hope things improve quickly. Maybe its a good thing to wait until Tues. Then you can have your app's before you come home. We went out to eat last night with your parents and had a good time. Its hard to get her to leave Caleb for any length of time! Sue and I went to Augusta today and had a great time. had not seen her since they got back from Fla. Cece made Nationals again next year while they were there. Hear Congrats are in order for Caleb. That is really great! Love to you both. Bonnie and Arthur.

  7. HI Guys,

Dont get discouraged with the set back. You will be back home in no time. Glad Donnie could be with you today. Hope your getting some rest
Joey you would have loved seeing Bob last night at the Relay for Life with all of us women. ( Vicki Brady, Janice and Dottie Whalen and myself. he called our team Charlies Angels. Alot of people out for a very good cause. We will definitely do this again. Very moving when all the luminaires are lit and the lights are dimmed. You both were very close in our hearts and prayers last night.
Cant wait until you both come home.
    Stay hydrated !!
    Love, Brenda & Bobby

  9. Headed to meet Melissa & go to church in a couple hours ,, you know you'll be in our thoughts and prayers. Hope to see Carolee & Harvard at services this morning. It seems like it's been forever since I've been able to see them. The lake is like a sheet of glass this morning & a few boats have already passed by. I walked up to the field yesterday, & Mark has it in great shape ,, it looks awesome & the kids have been practicing up there frequently. I crawled through the caves for old-times sake ,, they seem smaller than I remember them. Believe it or not ,, the last time I was up there was 2 christmas' ago when you let me cut down a "charlie brown" christmas tree. We need to be coaching again in the near future ,,, soooo much fun working with the kids & trying to convince official / referees / umpires that we "know the rule." LOL

Keep fighting hard my friend ,,, you're the best! I'll keep my eyes open for any interesting news to pass along & hopefully break up your day ,,, will try to post again later. Love ya Joe ,,, your friend Ray.

  10. Good Morning all!

I talked to Donnie last night, and slept pretty sound knowing you were resting well. Kerri, hope all that travel didn't wear you out, but as you said before, you do that drive all the time!

House closes the 26th, Kerri. Thanks for the help:)

Joey, I don't look at this as a set back, I look at is as an expected side effect that most people get with chemo, personified by the type of surgery you had. So please remember that the reason you chose Portland was for the expert surgeon you found, and to LISTEN when she tells you how good you are doing. End of mini lecture from your Sis.

    love you all

And Congrats to Caleb YEAH!!!!!! NHS!!!!

And Cam...Nice job keeping a home away from home going for everyone. You are so grown up. You are a wonderful young man... You WERE paying attention to your parents all these years..lol

    Love you all

  11. Dear Joey and Kerri,
We know you will surge forward from this setback. With all the energy you both have it is hard to accept a "blip" in the plan. You two are a true inspiration! As we read your daily updates, we are in awe of your courage, strength and the love that you share with all who know you! Because of you two, we share a wonderful life and we are deeply appreciative for that. We are praying for you and are anxious to hear that you are home soon.
    Love, Patricia and Rick

  12. Hello,
Watched part of an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" the other night and they were doing the procedure you had done on the show. NO WONDER YOU CAN'T EAT! Course I realize they may not be doing it EXACTLY the way a real surgeon would, but even so, it did show what amazing things could be done and how extensive it was. Be patient.

Kerri, at this point I hope you can stay through Tuesday so you don't have to make another trip for your appt. You must be tired. You must also be very proud of your boys for their help and support. Nothing will help you guys get through this as much as knowing Cam and Caleb are there for you, yet still being able to carry on with their lives. Great job guys!

    Love to you all,
    Janice and Tom

  13. Hello Joe,

You have to remember that less is more right now. The body knows when to move forward. Recovery is a slow process. I am quite sure I am still recuperating from my 72 Tonsillectomy. Also in reference to Joe Mooney's comment. Could you please let me know when, John Bapst's, "Finest" show up. I don't believe I have met them.

Slow and steady wins the race. Take Care

    Russ

  14. Better not to rush the journey you are on... So that when you do get back home you are stronger and up to the little set backs that are part of the healing process.... As much as HOME is what you all want...the old saying "Don't push the river- it flows by itself" is true...this too you shall pull through and be all the stronger for it....you are with us.

  15. Dear Lynches,
It seems as if every member of the family has a job to do, and your job, Joey, is to get up and running. If it weren't for speed bumps along the way, you wouldn't appreciate the smooth road. I think of you all often and hope all continues to go well.
    Love, Barbara Haskell
